KENMORE — The Williamsburg Bantam-Midget Warriors were scheduled to play two games this past week as they travelled to Kenmore on Sun., May 21, and were supposed to travel to Kemptville on Thurs., May 25, but the game was washed out.

Warriors 14 Kenmore #4 11
The Williamsburg Bantam-Midget Warriors travelled to Kenmore on Sun., May 21, to take on Kenmore #4 in the Rural Ottawa Softball Association. The Warriors got off to a good start this season with timely pitching and defence and have remained undefeated to date.

The Warriors’ bats were hot in the top of the first inning as they sent their entire rotation to the plate and scoring four of them. Kenmore scored three runs in the bottom of the inning but the Warriors took a 4-3 lead into the second.

The Warriors kept the ball rolling, scoring another four runs in the top of the second. The Warriors’ defence held Kenmore to just a single round trip in the bottom of the second taking an 8-4 lead into the third inning. The Warriors got two more home in the top of the third with six batters coming to the plate.

Kenmore scored three more runs in the bottom of the third and cut the Warriors’ lead to 10-7 heading into the fourth inning. The Warriors’ offence was unstoppable as they rhymed off another four runs in the top of the fourth inning.

Kenmore got one run to cross the plate in the bottom of the inning as the Warriors took a commanding 14-7 lead into the fifth inning. The Warriors only mustered a single in the top of the fifth inning but Kenmore mounted a comeback in the bottom of the fifth, getting six batters to the plate but only three were able to score as the Warriors took the game 15-11 and remained undefeated on the season.

Scoring the runs for the Warriors were Brooke Lapier with three, Kalleigh Young, Cassie Hummel, Martina Lewis and Morgan Hummel each scored two and Maggie Wells, Annaka Gibbons and Cassandra Young each scored singles.
