Yellow welcomed Black in the second game of the night in the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League on Thurs., May 25. CHESTERVILLE — Week five of the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League kicked off with Yellow welcoming Black in the first game of the night on Thurs., May 25, and Red hosted Blue in the night cap.

Yellow 3 Black 2
In the first game of the evening in the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League, Yellow welcomed Black. Yellow was looking to move into sole possession of first place while Black was still searching for their first win of the campaign. Black opened the scoring when Kaila Beckstead scored an unassisted goal at 12:05 of the first period taking a 1-0 lead. Black jumped out to a two-goal lead when Jessica Winters blasted one home from the slot from Allison Erwin at 13:28.

Yellow answered with 2:59 remaining in the opening frame as Shannon McRae sniped one from Jennifer Whitteker. Black took a 2-1 lead into the second period. Yellow tied the game when Angie VanGurp Helmer swatted one to the back of the net from Amber Saddlemire at 7:21.

Yellow took their first lead of the game when Alannah McRae lit the lantern at 10:53 from Saddlemire to make it 3-2. Yellow took the 3-2 lead into the third period. The two teams battled hard but neither were able to get the ball to the back of the net as Yellow hung on for the 3-2 victory moving into sole possession of second place. Picking up the win in Yellow’s goal was Cashelle Baldwin.

Blue 4 Red 1
In the second game of the night, Red played host to Blue. Blue was holding down sole possession of firth place with a perfect 4-0 record and looked to extend their winning streak to five. On paper Red looks like a solid lineup but they just haven’t been able to get on a roll.

Blue opened the scoring when Carly Crump sent one to the back of the net from Lindsay Cummins and Leigh Ann Dearing at 5:35 of the first period to take a 1-0 lead. Neither team was able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the opening frame and Blue took a 1-0 lead into the second period.

Blue made it 2-0 when Jaclyn Crump snapped one home from Cummins and Dearing at 8:45 of the second period. Blue took a three-goal lead when Carly Crump scored her second of the game at 12:30 from Becca Alves. Red had no response as Blue took a 3-0 lead into the third period.

Blue made it 4-0 when Carly Crump completed her hat trick at 2:59 of the third frame from Jaclyn Crump. Red finally got one to go with just 2:45 remaining in the game as Lesley Ann Tupper scored an unassisted goal to ruin Blue’s goalie Roxanne Crump’s shutout bid. Blue took the game 4-1 and remains undefeated on the season. Roxanne Crump picked up her fifth win of the season in goal for Blue.
