RUSSELL—The Russell High School T-Wolves Intermediate Girl’s basketball team travelled across town to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School for the three team round robin on Wed., April 18 in PRSSAA. In the first game the T-Wolves took on the Ravens with the Ravens taking the game 33-7.

For the T-Wolves this year is a rebuild year with mostly grade seven players in the lineup. In their second game of the round robin, the T-Wolves took on the St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School Falcons.

Falcons 45 T-Wolves 22: The T-Wolves had a good first quarter scoring eight points but the Falcons offence also opened well knocking down 14 points. The T-Wolves defence held the Falcons to just eight points in the second quarter but their offence sputtered with just two points.

The Falcons took a 22-10 lead into the break at the half.

The Falcons offence kicked up a gear in the third quarter scoring 10 points but it was their defence holding the T-Wolves to just a single free throw point taking a 32-11 lead into the final quarter. The T-Wolves had their best quarter in the fourth offensively scoring 11 points but on the defensive side, the T-Wolves gave up 13 points as the Falcons took the game 45-22.

With the win the Falcons secure at least second place with one week remaining in the regular season. Scoring for the T-Wolves were: Megan Nolan with 12 points, Kassandra Stevenson with six and M. B. with four.

Up next: The T-Wolves welcome the Ravens and the Falcons for a three-team round robin on Wed., May 9. The T-Wolves play the Ravens at 9 a.m. and Falcons at 1:30 p.m.
