Russell Kin Club members Grant Griffiths and Doug Anthony flank Lisette Thibault in front of the Embrun Co-op Independent Store on Sat., May 6. The pair were handing out leaflets about the upcoming André Philippe Gagnon concert which is coming to the Russell Arena on Sat., June 3. Billing the concert tickets as “the perfect Mother’s Day gift” Anthony said that ticket sales were picking up, but he reminded shoppers that tickets must be purchased in advance as it is reserved seating only. They are for sale online at www.sportsdomesportif.ca. The funds raised will support the Russell Sports Dome project. Gagnon, the Man with a Thousand Voices, had the crowd in stitches and singing along at a gala event held earlier this year in Embrun, and so many people had to be turned away that the Kin Club decided to host another concert with him. In addition, the opening act for the June 3 event will be Tara Shannon, who has just released a new album, Unfinished. Tickets are $50, $75 for VIP seats, and only two corporate tables remain at $1,200.           Vetter photo
