RUSSELL — The annual Russell Lions Club food drive on Sat., April 29, held with help from the Scouts and Beavers, was beyond all expectations. The amount of foodstuffs collected  and delivered to the Good Neighbours Food bank was way up. Scouts Canada donated $2,000 worth of much needed items, and Scouts and Beavers went door to door in Russell. Cash donations were also way up from other years, and shoppers at the new Foodland purchased 85 pre-made bags at $5 each. The list goes on, and the Lions extend many thanks to the  citizens of Russell.

There is one particular Cub Scout who needs special mention, Connor Brennan, a 2nd Russell Cub, who made a lot of amazing baked goods and sold them to raise a total of $102.15 towards the food drive. His goal was to plan a community service project to help him earn the Cubs Seeonee Award, and he’s well on his way. Well done, Connor!
