CHESTERVILLE — The Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League’s schedule pitted the first-place Blue against Black in the opening game of the night on Thurs., May 17, at the Chesterville Arena. In the nightcap, Yellow welcomed Red.

Blue 4 Black 2
In the first game of the evening Blue welcomed Black. Blue went into the game as the only undefeated team in the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League and looked to extend that streak. Black were still searching for their first win of the season. Blue opened the scoring when Lindsay Cummins batted one home from Jaclyn Crump at 4:20 of the first period taking a 1-0 lead.

Blue took a two-goal lead when Cummins scored her second of the game from Carly Crump and Jaclyn Crump at 9:18. Black got one back at 12:58 when Kaila Beckstead scored from Karen Edwards but trailed 2-1 heading into the second period.

Blue made it 3-1 when Becca Alves slapped one home from Cinnamon Boulanger at 9:11 of the second. Blue added another late goal at 16:57 as Boulanger drove onto the back of the net from Leighann Dearing and took a 4-1 lead into the third period.

Black scored the lone goal of the third as Sam Naish sniped one from Edwards with just 1:09 remaining in the game but it was too little too late as Blue took the game 4-2 remaining undefeated after week four. Picking up the win in Blues’ goal was Roxanne Crump.

Yellow 5 Red 4
In the second game of the night, Yellow welcomed Red. Red went into the game in third with one win in three tries but Yellow sat a point behind with just a tie heading into week four. Red opened the scoring when Lindsay Feeley scored from Janice Casselman at 3:05 of the first period taking a 1-0 lead. Red took a two-goal lead when Kim Elliott fired one to the back of the net from Lesley Ann Tupper at 9:04.

Yellow answered at 11:10 when Jodie Hall scored from Patti Hall to get to within one. Yellow knotted the affair when Jodi Hall scored her second of the game from Patti Hall at 13:12. Red retook the lead when Elliott scored her second of the night from Tupper and Casselman at 14:45 and took a 3-2 lead into the second period.

Red took a 4-2 lead when Elliott completed her hat trick at 7:52 of the second period from Tupper but Yellow answered with a goal at 10:55 as Jodi Hall scored her hat-trick goal from Patti Hall and Jennifer Whitteker.

Red took a slim 4-3 lead into the third period. Yellow tied the game when Jodi Hall scored her fourth of the game from Patti Hall at 15:59 of the third period. Yellow took their first lead of the game with just 3:08 remaining in the game as Patti Hall scored what proved to be the game winner from Jodi Hall. Yellow took the game 5-4 moving into sole possession of second place. Picking up the win in Yellow’s goal was Cashelle Baldwin.
