CHESTERVILLE—The Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League kicked off week four with a pair of games on Thurs., May 17, at the Chesterville Arena as Blue played host to Green and Red took on Yellow.

Blue 5 Green 2: In the first game of the evening, undefeated Blue welcomed the fourth place Green squad. Blue looked to keep their winning streak intact and green was still looking for their first win of the season and their first goal.

One streak finally came to an end at 12:40 when Green scored that first goal of the season as Theresa Schoones swatted one home from Laura MacDonell and Patti Hall to take a 1-0 lead. Green was able to escape the first period with the 1-0 lead as they headed for the second period.

Blue tied the game at just 1:47 into the second period as Cinnamon Boulanger slammed one to the back of the net from Lindsay Cummins and Anna Fawcett. Blue took their first lead of the game as Kara Bartholomew slid one home from Boulanger and Cummins at 9:33.

Blue took the 2-1 lead into the third period. Green knotted the affair just 30 seconds into the third as Hall pounded one home from Marissa Imrie and Karen Edwards. Blue reestablished the lead when Sam Benoit fired one home from Jaclyn Crump and Rebecca Kennedy at 5:51 and took a two-goal lead at 7:17 as Carly Crump sniped one from Jaclyn Crump and Leigh Ann Dearing.

Blue closed out the scoring at 10:27 when Bartholomew scored her second of the game from Boulanger and Dearing taking the game 5-2. With the win, Blue remains unbeaten with four wins and eight points. Picking up the win in Blue’s goal was Roxanne Crump and suffering the loss in Green’s goal was Cashelle Baldwin.

Red 5 Yellow 1: In the second game of the night, Red welcomed Yellow. In the season opener Yellow beat the Red team 5-0 and sat two points ahead in the standing with four to Red’s two. It didn’t take long for Red to jump out to a 1-0 lead as Kaila Beckstead blasted one home from Jessica Rutley and Lindsay Feeley just 43 seconds into the first period.

Red made it a 2-0 game when Beckstead scored her second of the game just 56 seconds later from Feeley and Rutley but Yellow got that one back when Jessica Winters lit the lamp from Jackie Morris and Janice Casselman at 6:49. Red took the 2-1 lead into the second period.

It was all Red in the second, scoring three unanswered goals at 7:51 as Lesley Ann Tupper snapped one to the back of the net from Jen Whitteker and Kim Elliott, with 1:46 remaining as Rutley finessed one home from Feeley and Katie Currie and again with just 1:06 remaining as Beckstead completed her hat trick from Shaelynn Shay.

Red took the 5-1 lead into the third period. Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the final frame as Red took the game 5-1. With the win Red ties Yellow in the standings with four points each. Picking up the win in Red’s goal was Julia Shaver and suffering the loss in Yellow’s goal was Patti Mitton.

Up next: In week five of the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League Thurs., May 24, Red welcomes Green at 7 p.m. and Blue plays host to Yellow at 8 p.m.
