2018 Rippin’ Racers swim team
The Chesterville Rippin’ Racers’ swim team hosted their annual swim meet on Sun., Aug. 19, at the Chesterville Pool. The team had a great season with many winning Swimmer of the Day medals and a team win in St. Andrews. The all-day event ended the swimming season for the Racers but they were still on a high for the team picture.      Moore photo

CHESTERVILLE—The Chesterville Rippin’ Racers swim team welcomed eight other teams to their annual swim meet on Sun., Aug. 19, at the Chesterville Pool. After the Russell swim meet the previous day the Racers went into their final swim meet of the season.

This year’s Racers have improved a lot since last year with a number of swimmers becoming medalists in various meets throughout the summer. The eight other teams were: Prescott, Russell, Cardinal, Johnstown, Manotick, Kemptville, Winchester and St. Andrews. The Racers didn’t have their best day but still finished in fifth place, one place ahead of the Winchester Waves.

The Racers’ results were: Alex Van Delst – 5th in back crawl, Zander Thompson – 1st in butterfly, 2nd in IM and front crawl, Thomas Vingerhoeds – 5th in butterfly, Owen Latimer 1st in butterfly and 4th in breaststroke, Emma Gaudette – 1st in IM and back crawl and 2nd in front crawl, Faith McRae – 1st in IM, 2nd in front crawl and butterfly, Aubrey Pickup- 2nd in breaststroke, 3rd in back crawl and 4th in front crawl, McKenna Kelly – 2nd in breaststroke, 4th in back crawl and 6th in front crawl, Saoirse McNamara – 2nd in back crawl and 6th in front crawl, Sophy Sweeney – 3rd in butterfly and 6th in front crawl, Carter Latimer – 3rd in back crawl and breaststroke and 4th in front crawl, Olivia Pereira – 2nd in back crawl, 3rd in breaststroke and 4th in front crawl, Eric DeVries – 2nd in front crawl and butterfly and 3rd in breaststroke, Matt Pereira – 1st in front crawl and 2nd in breaststroke, Madison Lavigne – 5th in butterfly, Alice Van Kessel – 6th in back crawl, Shealyn Elliott – 6th in back crawl and butterfly, Aleea Ball – 5th in back crawl, Brogan Kyle – 6th in back crawl, John Gordon Van Kessel – 4th in back crawl, Laing McNamara – 5th in back crawl and 6th in breaststroke, Rachel Groux – 5th in butterfly and William Vingerhoeds – 6th in butterfly.
