RUSSELL—The St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School Ravens’ Junior boys basketball team welcomed the St. Francis Xavier Falcons on Wednesday afternoon for their final game of the regular season.

The St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School Ravens’ Junior boys basketball team welcomed St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School Falcons on Wed., Jan. 8, in PRSSAA. The Ravens went into the game in first place and with a win, they would clinch home court advantage for the PRSSAA Championship. 

The Ravens jumped out to a quick start dropping 20 points on the Falcons in the first quarter and holding them to just five. The Ravens scored another 16 points in the second quarter and again held the Falcons to just five. The Ravens took a 36-10 lead into the dressing room at the half. 

The Ravens didn’t slow down in the third quarter scoring another 17 points and only allowing six against. The Ravens took a 53-16 lead into the final quarter.  

The Falcons put up a much better fight in the fourth quarter, scoring 15 points but the Ravens were just too much, scoring another 18 points. The Ravens took the game convincingly 71-31 ensuring home court advantage throughout the playoffs. 

Scoring for the Ravens were Callum Birch with 17 points, Matt Pietrkeiwics with 14, Brock Ballantyne with 11, Dylan Clune with eight, Kai Daniel and N. P. with six each, Callum Tait with five and Aidan Nyentap with four.
