Demons 3 Colts 1

The North Dundas Major Midget Demons welcomed the Cornwall Colts to the Joel Steele Community Centre on Thurs., March 7, for game two of the first to three point UCMHL playoff series. The Demons and the Colts battled to a two-all draw in their first game of the series so if either team could pull off a victory in this game, they would move onto the final.

Neither team was able to score in the first period. The Demons hit the score sheet first as Dean Lapier pounded one to the back of the net from Colin Minish and Cam Sherrer just 1:23 into the second period taking a 1-0 lead.

The Demons took a two-goal lead when Curtis Bell slapped one home from Minish and Lapier at 8:46 and took a 2-0 lead into the third period. The Colts cut the deficit in half just 22 seconds into the third period.

The Colts yanked their goalie in favour of an extra attacker to try to tie the game and force a game three but the Demons had other ideas as Sherrer drove one home in the empty cage with just 20 seconds remaining in regulation from Minish and Lapier.

The Demons took the game 3-1 and the series three points to one and moved onto the final. Picking up the win in the Demons’ goal was Toby Byrne.

Demons 2 Colts 2

The North Dundas Major Midget Demons travelled to the Benson Centre in Cornwall to take on the Colts in game one of their first to three point UCMHL playoff series on Sun., March 3. The Demons easily dispatched the Leeds Chargers in two games in the first round but this series would be a little tougher starting on the road.

The Colts opened the scoring at 6:03 of the first period taking a 1-0 lead. The Colts took a two-goal lead at 6:36 and took the 2-0 lead into the second period. The Demons cut the deficit in half when Nic Brugmans slid one home from Ben Fingler and Joey Hannaford with just 1:49 remaining in the middle frame.

The Colts took a 2-1 lead into the third period. The Demons knotted the affair at 14:48 as Hannaford sniped one from Fingler. Neither team was able to take the game outright so the teams settled for a two-all draw heading back to Winchester for game two. Playing in goal for the Demons was Liam Antille.
