CHESTERVILLE—In week eight of the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League this past Thursday night, Blue welcomed Yellow in the opening game and in the night cap Green faced off against Yellow.

In the first game of the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League on Thurs., June 6, Blue played host to Yellow at the Chesterville Arena. Blue sat in first place, three points ahead of second place Red while Yellow sat in third place just one point ahead of Green.
Blue opened the scoring at 8:55 of the first period as Hailey Imrie rifled one home from Lindsay Cummins and Kara Bartholomew taking a 1-0 lead. Blue took the 1-0 lead into the second period.
Blue made it a two-goal game when Bartholomew slapped one to the back of the net at 5:18 from Jennifer Whitteker and Rebecca Kennedy and took the 2-0 lead into the third period. Blue added to their lead when Cummins snapped one home from Lindsay Waddell and Laura Rushford at 9:35 of the third period.
Blue hung on for a 3-0 victory. Picking up the shutout in Blue’s goal was Cashelle Baldwin (spare) and suffering the loss in Yellow’s goal was Terri Smith.
In the second game of the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League on Thurs., June 6, Green welcomed Red. Red’s forward, Marlee Grady (8) just missed a chance on Green’s goalie, Roxanne Crump while defenseman, Heather Erwin (13) ties up Grady’s stick. In the second game of the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League, Green welcomed Red. After Blue picked up a 3-0 victory in the opening game, Red sat in second place five points behind the top squad and Green sat in fourth place just a single point behind Yellow in third.
The teams traded chances in the opening frame and with just 1:02 remaining in the first period Red opened the scoring as Marlee Grady fired one home from Jessica Rutley and took a 1-0 lead into the second period.
Red made it 2-0 when Michelle Lang blasted one to the back of the net from Makenzie Baker at 3:50 of the middle frame. Red made it 3-0 as Rutley lit the lantern at 4:47 from Angie Helmer and Grady but Green answered as Carly Crump sniped one from Janice Casselman and Jackie Morris at 7:53. Red took a 3-1 lead into the third period.
The teams battled to a scoreless draw in the third period as Red took the game 3-1 moving back to within three points of Blue in first place. Picking up the win in Red’s goal was Cashelle Baldwin and suffering the loss in Green’s goal was Roxanne Crump.

In week nine of the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League on Thurs., June 13, at the Chesterville Arena, Red welcomes Blue in the early game at 7 p.m. and Yellow plays host to Green in the late game at 8 p.m.
