In the opening game of the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League on Thurs., July 25, Green played host to Yellow at the Chesterville Arena. Yellow entered into the game in third place, just a single point ahead of Green in fourth.

Yellow opened the scoring at 5:10 of the first period as Jodie Hall slipped one home from Mackenzie Thomas taking a 1-0 lead. Green promptly tied the game just 47 seconds later as Jaclyn Crump swatted one to the back of the net from Jackie Morris and Carly Crump.

Green pressed to score late in the final frame but with just 38 seconds remaining, Roach was sprung on a breakaway and made no mistake sliding one five hole from Amber Sadlemire. Yellow took the game 6-4, moving three points ahead of Green for third place.

Picking up the win in Yellow’s goal was Terri Smith and suffering the loss in Green’s goal was Roxanne Crump.

In the second game of the night in the Chesterville Women’s Ball Hockey League, Blue welcomed Red. Red’s defender Stephanie Shane tires to clear the ball from in front of her net as Blue’s Kara Bartholomew gets a stick on it sending it flying into the air. Blue’s forward, Laura Rushford hopes for a loose ball. Rushford scored Blue’s lone goal in a 2-1 loss but it was bittersweet as Blue locked up first place despite the loss. Moore photo
