The Williamsburg Junior Pioneers welcomed the Orleans Red Sox to the J. C. Whitteker Ball Park on Wed., July 31, in the Ontario District 2 Little League. WILLIAMSBURG—The Williamsburg Junior Pioneers played a pair of games this past week as they travelled to Ottawa on Monday night to take on the East Nepean Eagles and welcomed the first place Orleans Red Sox on Wednesday night.

The Williamsburg Junior Pioneers welcomed the Orleans Red Sox to the J. C. Whitteker Ball Park on Wed., July 31, in the Ontario District 2 Little League. After losing their previous game 7-1 to the East Nepean Eagles at the Grenville Ball Park in Ottawa, the Pioneers would be in tough, taking on the first place and undefeated Red Sox. 

The Red Sox kicked things off with a bang in the top of the first scoring the maximum five runs. The Pioneers scored a single in the bottom of the first but left two men on the bags. The Red Sox took a 5-1 lead into the second inning. 

The Red Sox went three up and three down in the top of the second with a strikeout and two fielder’s choices. The Pioneers only got one runner on base in the bottom of the inning and he managed to score but they still trailed 5-2 heading into the third inning. 

The top of the Red Sox’s  batting order were hot on this night and they made the Pioneers pay with five more runs in the top of the third inning. The Red Sox defence only allowed four Pioneer batters in the bottom of the third and didn’t allow them to cross the plate taking a 10-2 lead into the fourth inning. 

The Red Sox scored two more runs in the top of the fourth leaving a runner in scoring position. The Pioneers scored a single run in the bottom of the fourth but trailed 12-3 heading the fifth inning. The Red Sox added a single run in the top of the fifth inning but the Pioneers could only get three to the dish at their last at bat falling to the Red Sox 13-3. 

Scoring the runs for the Pioneers were Terrence Mudde, Seb Lafrance and Marty McLeod.
