NEWINGTON – Generations of residents and visitors have made the trek to the fairgrounds in the small South Stormont town of Newington on Labour Day weekend. This year, the Stormont County Fair was held between Aug. 30 and Sept. 2 and featured many of the traditions people have come to expect.

The weekend featured several events including a 3- pitch ball tournament, 4-H cattle and poultry Achievement Days, horse shows, homecraft, entertainment shows and a crowd favourite the Friday night Demo Derby.

A crowd estimated to be well over 1,000 people attended the Demo Derby that featured an evening full of excitement as well as thrills and chills as the cars drove around the derby pit. As the evening progressed, the midway and vendors throughout the fairgrounds were busy providing those attending the fair with other forms of entertainment.
