The Winchester Hawks welcomed the Richmond Royals to the Joel Steele Community Centre on Fri., Nov. 8, in the CCHL2. The Hawks welcomed back a familiar face to their lineup, Graeme Buffone (5). CARLETON PLACE—The Winchester Hawks played two games this past weekend as they welcomed the Richmond Royals on Friday night and travelled to Carleton Place on Saturday night to take on the Canadians.

Hawks 7 Canadians 2

The Winchester Hawks travelled to the Carleton Place Arena on Sat., Nov. 9, to take on the Canadians in the CCHL2. The Hawks were coming off a big 4-1 victory over the Richmond Royals the previous night and sat in fifth place in the Martin Division, just four points behind the Ottawa Jr. Canadians in fourth. 

The Hawks opened the scoring when Noah Weatherall scored his first goal of the season from Kyle Green at 13:31 of the first period and took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. 

The Hawks made it 2-0 when Eric Vitale scored his seventh of the season from Kyle Fleming at 7:08 of the first period. The Canadians got on the board with just four seconds remaining in the second period but trailed 2-1 heading into the second intermission. 

The Hawks made it 3-1 just 16 seconds into the third period as Fleming scored his ninth of the season from Vitale and Graeme Buffone. The Hawks made it 4-1 at 4:10 as Marco Haw scored his ninth of the season from Danny Johnson and Jacob Giacobi on the power play and 5-1 as Conny Harty scored his second of the season from Nicolas Corry at 9:02. 

The Hawks kept the ball rolling as Nathan Lassenba scored his first of the season from Haw at 12:28. Harty scored his second of the game and third of the season at 13:10 from Logan Schmidt to give the Hawks a 7-1 lead. 

The Canadians scored a late one with just six seconds remaining, but the Hawks took the game with an impressive 7-2 victory. The Hawks outshot the Canadians 37-34. Picking up the win in the Hawks’ goal was Lucas Devries making 32 saves.

The Winchester Hawks welcomed the Richmond Royals to the Joel Steele Community Centre on Fri., Nov. 8, in the CCHL2. The Hawks went into the game in fifth place in the Martin Division, five points ahead of the Char-Lan Rebels in sixth and four points behind the Ottawa Jr. Canadians in fourth. 

The Royals opened the scoring at 11:43 of the first period taking a 1-0 lead. The Hawks answered with just 56 seconds remaining in the opening frame as captain, Kyle Kuehni scored his seventh of the season from Colby Schroeder. The teams took a one-all draw into the first intermission. 

The Hawks made it 2-1 when Eric Vitale scored his fifth of the season from Kuehni and Danny Johnson on the power play just 52 seconds into the second period. The Hawks took a slim 2-1 lead into the second intermission. 

The Hawks made it 3-1 when Vitale scored his second of the game and sixth of the season from Marco Haw at 7:42 of the third period. The Royals pulled their tender with over a minute remaining but that backfired as Haw scored his eighth of the season from Garrett Craig and Graeme Buffone into the empty net with just 51 seconds remaining in the game. 

The Hawks hung on for a 4-1 victory. The Hawks outshot the Royals 54-46. Picking up the win in the Hawks’ goal was Cole Defazio making 45 saves.
