RUSSELL/EMBRUN – It’s that time of year again! While the snow might be disappearing right before our very eyes, the Christmas spirit was still as strong as ever in Russell and Embrun this past weekend. On Sat., Nov. 23, Embrun ran their parade down Notre Dame Street, starting at the Russell Township municipal building.
Starting at 6:30 p.m., the lights off of the floats were illuminating beautifully through town in the pale of nightfall. Floats featuring the Russell Optimist Club, The Kin Club of Russell and even the Genie himself from Aladdin, playing the famous “Prince Ali” song, had the crowd roaring with excitement.
The Russell Christmas Parade ran through Concession Street on Sun., Nov. 24, starting at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Starting at 1 p.m., large crowds gathered on the sidewalks to marvel at the creativity of the township, while grabbing as much candy as possible.
While the usual Christmas tone was kept during the festivities, there were some floats that dared to be different. Smart Rock Interlock & Construction decided to do a tribute to the band KISS, while rocking out to their songs, and Imagine Orthodontics had dinosaurs running down the streets with toothbrushes!
At the end of each parade, Santa Claus, along with Mrs. Claus, made sure to wish everyone who attended a very Merry Christmas.
