MORRISBURG—The Morrisburg Lions played only one game this past weekend as they welcomed the South Grenville Rangers on Saturday night.

The Morrisburg Lions welcomed the South Grenville Rangers to the Morrsiburg Arena on Sat., Nov. 23, in the NCJHL. The Lions were still looking for their second win of the season sitting in the basement of the West Division, while the Rangers only had two losses in the season sitting at the top of the division and entire league. 

The Rangers opened the scoring when Matthew Berry scored an unassisted goal at 7:56 to take a 1-0 lead. The Lions tied the game at 7:24 as Justice Brownlee ripped one home from Wade Moak and Jack Ingram. 

The Rangers answered with a pair of goals at 15:59 as Jordan Poulin scored from Berry and Hunter Shipclark and at 17:40 as Brayden Forrestell slammed one home form Cole Edgley. The Rangers took a 3-1 lead into the first intermission. 

The Rangers scored the lone goal of the second period as Poulin scored from Berry at 10:16. The Rangers took a 4-1 lead into the second intermission. The Rangers made it 5-1 when Jacob Servage scored from Cameron Dillon at on the power play at 9:53. 

The Rangers scored to make it 6-1 with just 37 seconds remaining as Cooper Kingston scored from Mathieu Giroux but the Lions got that one back with just 17 seconds remaining as Ingram scored an unassisted goal. 

The Rangers took the game 6-2 handing the Lions their 14th loss of the season. The Rangers outshot the Lions 58-24. Picking up the win in the Rangers’ goal was Anthony Kerwin making 22 saves and suffering the loss in the Lions’ goal was Riley Phillips making 52 saves.
