MORRISBURG—The North Dundas Rockets played two road games this past weekend as they travelled to Cardinal on Saturday night to take on the South Grenville Rangers and to Morrisburg on Sunday afternoon to take on the Lions. 

Rockets 8 Lions 0

The North Dundas Rockets travelled to the Morrsiburg Arena on Sun., Dec. 1, to take on the Lions in the NCJHL. The Rockets were coming off a tough 5-1 loss to the division leading South Grenville Rangers the previous night and looked to get back over .500. 

The Rockets opened the scoring when Nicholas Carroll slid one home from Joel Hunt at the five-minute mark of the first period taking a 1-0 lead. The Rockets made it 2-0 when Hunt pounded home a rebound from Cameron Brown at 8:32 and took that lead into the first intermission. 

The Rockets made it 3-0 as Xavier Langevin snapped one glove-side from Jack Van Kessel at 2:42 of the second period. The Rockets made it 4-0 as Justin Lefebvre riffled one to the back of the net from Hunt and Carroll on the power play at 3:51. The Rockets took the 4-0 lead into the second intermission. 

It was all Rockets again in the third period as Proulx fired one home from Cole Hodges just 1:45 into the third period and made it 6-0 as Van Kessel ripped one home from Langevin while shorthanded at 8:31. 

The Rockets continued their assault as Hunt lit the lamp for the second time from Lefebvre at 9:51. The Rockets closed out the scoring when Van Kessel scored his second of the game at 14:05 unassisted taking the game in a walk 8-0. The Rockets outshot the Lions 60-23. 

Picking up the shutout in the Rockets’ goal was Emerson Hunt making 23 saves and suffering the loss in the Lions’ goal Riley Phillips making 52 saves.

Rangers 5 Rockets 1

The North Dundas Rockets travelled to the Ingredion Centre in Cardinal on Sat., Nov. 30, to take on the South Grenville Rangers in the NCJHL. The Rockets sat in second place in the West Division, 11 points behind the Rangers at the top and four points ahead of the Metcalfe Jets in third. 

The Rangers opened the scoring when Brody Ranger scored from Nate Medaglia and Jordan Dodge at 11:50 in the first period, taking a 1-0 lead. The Rangers took a two-goal lead when Cooper Kingston scored from Joe MacLean and Dylan Sharpley at 17:39. The Rangers took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. 

The Rangers made 3-0 when Brayden Forestell scored from Medaglia and Cameron Dillon at 3:35 on the power play. The Rockets got to within two as Nicholas Carroll snapped one home from Joel Hunt and Francis Proulx at 15:14. The Rangers took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission. 

The Rangers made it 4-1 as Forestell scored his second of the game from Dillon and Matthew Barrie at 2:47 of the third period. The Rangers closed out the scoring when Jacob McGonegal scored from Kyle Dillabough and Jordan Poulan with just 1:38 remaining in regulation. 

The Rangers took the game 5-1 moving to 13 points ahead of the Rockets and maintaining top spot in the West Division. Suffering the loss in the Rockets’ goal was Sebastien Moreau.
