WINCHESTER—The North Dundas Major Midget Demons had a busy week with three games on the schedule as they welcomed the Leeds Chargers on Monday night, travelled to Kemptville on Thursday night to take on the Royals and welcomed the Akwesasne Wolves on Sunday night. 

Demons 3 Wolves 2

The North Dundas Major Midget Demons welcomed the Akwesasne Wolves to the Joel Steele Community Centre in Winchester on Sun., Dec. 8, in the UCMHL. The Demons have won four of their last five games and looked to move into a third-place tie with the Kemptville Royals with a victory over the Wolves. 

The teams battled to a scoreless first period but the Demons opened the scoring when Curtis Bell snapped one home from Nolan Henry and Joshua Broad at 3:30 of the second period. The Demons made it 2-0 when Maclean Machan slid one home from Cole Eikelboom and Lucas Menard at 6:52. 

The Demons took a three-goal advantage when Broad lit the lamp from Owen Fetterly and Henry at the eight-minute mark. The Demons took a 3-0 lead into the third period. 

The Wolves closed the gap to two just 46 seconds into the third period; they then closed the gap to one at 2:13 on the power play. The Wolves pulled their goalie in favour of an extra skater late in the game but the Demons were able to hold them off the scoreboard taking the game 3-2. 

With the win, the Demons moved into a third-place tie with the Royals and just one point behind the second-place Char-Lan Rebels. Picking up the victory in the Demons’ goal was Liam Antille.

Demons 4 Royals 3

The North Dundas Major Midget Demons travelled to the North Grenville Municipal Centre in Kemptville on Thurs., Dec. 5, to take on the Royals in the UCMHL. 

The Royals opened the scoring at 7:45 of the first period but the Demons tied the game at 8:47 when Cole Eikelboom slammed one home from Curtis Bowman. The Royals retook the lead with 35 seconds remaining in the opening frame and took a two-goal lead just 12 seconds later. The Royals took a 3-1 lead into the second period. 

The Demons got to within one when Mason Carr ripped on home from Eikelboom and Bowman at 10:26 of the second period. The Demons tied the game as Nolan Henry sniped one from Owen Richardson with just 21 seconds remaining in the middle frame and took a three-all draw into the third period. 

The Demons took their first lead of the game when Curtis Bell swatted one to the back of the net from Joshua Broad just 46 seconds into the third. The Demons’ defence and goalie Toby Byrne held the Royals off the score sheet for the remainder of regulation time, taking the game 4-3. 

Picking up the win in the Demons’ goal was Byrne. 

Demons 8 Chargers 2

The Demons opened the scoring when Curtis Bowman snapped one home from the top of the crease from Jaymen Heuff at 5:27 taking a 1-0 lead. The Chargers tied the game at 6:09 but the Demons got that one back when Mason Carr blasted one to the back of the net from Bowman and Heuff at 9:19. 

The Demons took a 2-1 lead into the second period. The Demons made it 3-1 when Curtis Bell rifled one to the back of the cage from Joshua Broad just 44 seconds into the second period. The Demons carried the 3-1 lead into the third period. 

The Chargers got to within one just 42 seconds into the third but the Demons answered as Carr scored his second of the game from Broad and Nolan Henry on the power play at 1:41. The Demons made it 5-2 when Henry pounded one home from Broad and Maclean Machan on the power play at 4:55. 

The Demons made it 6-2 as Heuff riffled one home from Broad at 7:13 and 7-2 as Heuff scored his second of the game from Broad and Machan at 12:29; both goals on the power play. The Demons added another power play goal at 14:38 as Owen Fetterly ripped one unassisted. The Demons took the game 8-2.
