WINCHESTER – A long-standing business that has been part of the region’s agricultural sector for the past 30 years is changing hands.

On Aug. 1, Weagant Farm Supplies New Holland in Winchester and its team will join Delta Power Equipment’s network of agricultural equipment stores across Ontario. This will be Delta Power Equipment’s first store in Eastern Ontario and its fifth New Holland store in the province.

In a press release, Josie Sisler, Delta Power Equipment CEO, announced the change of ownership: “We are excited to make this special announcement and look forward to building on the strong reputation Weagant Farm Supplies has built.” She went on to say, “For more than sixty years, this store’s staff and progressive customer base have been the ones to watch in the New Holland community. We are pleased to begin working together.”

Since its beginning in 1953, the respected and knowledgeable staff at Weagant Farm Supplies have worked to make the company grow to be one of New Holland’s largest independent dealerships in Canada.

The farm equipment company operates three stores: the New Holland store in Winchester, and two Kubota Canada dealerships in Winchester (Topline Trailer and Equipment Sales) and in Brockville (Weagant Farm Supplies).

“We will be a good fit for [Delta],” said Stacey Weagant, who will take on the role of general manager at the Winchester location when the transition is complete this summer.

The new owner offers resources that will make the customer experience better than ever, she explained.

“It is a different way forward and nothing is really lost,” said Weagant. “There will be the same products and the same staff that people have come to trust.”

Positioning your business for the future is always a crucial decision. Stacey said Weagant was always planning for the future and considering different strategies. When Delta approached them, the timing was perfect. “This was the perfect opportunity at the right time,” said Weagant. “It was very carefully thought through.”

She is looking forward to the transition. “It will be new and different even though there will be challenges.”

When all is said and done, she believes the change will be good for staff. For customers, she said, “The comfort level of our clients will be the same.”

In a press release announcing the change in ownership, Julie Black, part owner, stated: “We are proud of our legacy as a New Holland dealership in Canada and feel very optimistic about our future. The ownership of Weagant Farm Supplies wishes Delta Power Equipment well as they carry this store, its staff and customers into the next 70 years.”

Following the acquisition, Weagant Farm Supplies will continue to own and operate its remaining two stores (Kubota stores in Brockville and Topline Trailers in Winchester).

Delta Power Equipment is a Case IH and New Holland dealership operating in nine locations across Ontario. In addition to agricultural equipment, Delta Power Equipment’s approximately 250 employees also include teams focused on construction and powersports equipment.
