INGLESIDE—15 years ago, on Sept. 5, Vicky and Jimmy Dingwall opened Jimmy’s Restaurant in Ingleside.  This past Saturday a steady stream of customers joined the couple at their restaurant to celebrate the 15th anniversary of its opening with food, fun and of course a birthday cake!

Recently The Chesterville Record spoke with the couple about how it all began and how they were celebrating the anniversary. Vicky explained she and her husband wanted to start a business together and decided on operating a restaurant in this South Stormont community, and the rest as they say is history.

Over the years Jimmy’s has developed a dedicated following of customers who come to enjoy the delicious food and friendly atmosphere. According to Vicky, the regulars are local people as well as the seasonal visitors to the area who camp in the nearby campgrounds.

For a week prior to Sept. 5, guests at Jimmy’s were given a ticket during their meal, with daily prize draws held. Prizes included gifts certificates from local businesses, food prizes from the restaurant and gifts purchased locally by the couple as well as items donated by Fiddlers Finds and Catherine and Mike Mailett. On Sept. 5, the draw for anniversary prizes were held with Ken Mark and Paul Flaro holding two of the winning tickets, with one prize still to be claimed.

The couple cut the birthday cake outside and brought pieces of the cake inside the restaurant for their guests to enjoy. Jimmy mentioned as the cake cutting began how he enjoyed meeting the people, both from home and away, who visited the restaurant. He mentioned their appreciation for the staff and expressed how the couple were quite happy with the way things have turned out over the years.

Jimmy’s Restaurant is located on Dickinson Drive in Ingleside, not far from the 401 interchange. For more information please visit their Facebook page.
