CHESTERVILLE – The North Dundas Rockets defeated the Gananoque Islanders to win the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League Trophy on Sat., April 9, with a capacity crowd watching in the stands of the Chesterville Arena.

The winning goal was scored by No. 66 Brett Gustavsen, a former player with the Carleton Ravens and Ottawa 67’s in the sudden death overtime period. Immediately following the goal, the sounds of Queen’s musical hit “We are the Champions” played over the sound system; fans cheered, and players gathered.

Mitch Gagne, president of the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League commented during the game, “how all in all it was a fantastic season.” In a post game email, Rob Sadler, coach, and general manager of the North Dundas Rockets noted “It’s been an incredibly successful season and I’m thrilled for the North Dundas Community to be able to celebrate a hockey championship. It’s the first one since 1986 when the Chesterville Flyers won the Junior C title.”
