NORTH DUNDAS – John Lennox is a candidate for North Dundas councillor.

The municipal election is Oct. 24 and advance voting via internet or phone is open Oct. 19. Lennox was born in North Dundas and attended Chesterville Public School. His family moved to Toronto, but he spent his summers helping his grandparents on their farm where they raised miniature horses just outside of Chesterville.

He joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a gunner and served his country domestically as well as in the Middle East.

He retired from the military and moved back to North Dundas in 2015. He still spends a great deal of his time helping on the farm that his grandparents still operate to this day.

He serves as a firefighter for Station 2 – South Mountain, the Nation Valley ATV Club, Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life executive, Parade of Lights, and Winchester Bike Nights.

John is employed in the Intelligence field in the federal government, and lives in Hallville with his spouse, their children, two horses and dog.

His priorities are water, business and community growth.

He believes North Dundas has to invest in its water and water treatment capabilities in order to grow.

He feels local businesses need municipal support in removing barriers so that services are easily accessible, and processes are transparent, and streamlined to meet the needs of our local businesses.

Lennox would like to see North Dundas as a place where people want to live and work, through investment into recreation programs, affordable housing, hiking/biking trails and more.

He has pledged to accept a salary of $1 as a councillor and to reinvest the remaining funds into grants for local businesses.

As a firefighter, he wants to give the North Dundas Fire Services the support, training, and tools they need to accomplish the transformation and modernization mandated by the province. He wants to secure high-speed internet for rural businesses and residents.
