WINCHESTER – “We absolutely love seeing families come back to us year over year so we can take updated family pictures,” Kevin Middlemiss said. “Seeing new baby bumps, fresh new little babies (fur babies, too), and see little humans grow is so beautiful and it makes us feel so over the moon to have the opportunity to do this as a career.”

Middlemiss and his partner, Kelly Lesage, relocated to Winchester from Kanata in January 2022. Their focus this year has been establishing themselves – Kevin and Kelly Photography – in their new community.

“We are looking to meet new people, make new connections, and collaborate with other businesses in the area,” Middlemiss said. “We offer mostly lifestyle portrait sessions – families, maternity, newborn, engagements, headshots.”

Currently, the couple and their business can be found on Facebook and Instagram, complete with lots of photos to peruse. In the new year, their plan is to add a website.

“Our love for photography began during a road trip back in 2008 when we decided to purchase our first camera to document our many adventures. We fell in love with the power of still images, the emotion they invoke and how important these memories are as time passes,” Middlemiss said. “Using a camera as an extension of our creativity, this love of creating moments turned into passion, and the perfect career opportunity. “With Lesage behind the camera most of the time, Middlemiss manages the business side of things, including design and computer-related tasks. Lesage noted that he also “holds the fort at home,” caring for their two children when Lesage is away on a photoshoot.

“We have a very natural approach when it comes to taking photos. We try our very best to help our clients feel comfortable in front of the camera. We understand that not everyone likes to be put in the spotlight, especially kids, but we mastered the art of direction by allowing moments to happen naturally. Dancing, running, playing, cuddling, and giving lots of hugs and kisses are all common during a photo session,” Middlemiss said. “In the end, our goal is to capture that perfect moment for our clients to keep forever.”

Kevin and Kelly Photography are holding Tree Farm Mini Sessions on Nov. 5 and again on Nov. 12 for those interested in having family portraits taken in a beautiful natural setting. The sessions are to be held at Mageau’s Tree Farm, which is located at 4843 Anderson Road in Carlsbad Springs. More information and a booking link can be found on the business’ Facebook page.
